Defending Teachers.

Defending Education

The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) was founded in order to defend the dignity of teachers and fight for equal access to education for every child. Born out of a collective resolve to challenge unfair policies that sidelined rural teachers, ARTUZ has grown into a strong voice for labor justice, free and compulsory education, and fair treatment of all teachers across Zimbabwe.

Why Teachers Choose ARTUZ?

Fight for a Living Wage

We demand a fair salary of USD $1,260 so that teachers can live with dignity, focus on their work, and give learners the best education possible.

Legal & Union Protection
From classrooms to courtrooms, ARTUZ stands by its members – defending teachers who face persecution, arbitrary dismissal, or victimization.
Defending Education
We campaign for free, compulsory, quality education and push for policies like the Education Equalisation Fund to close the rural-urban education gap.
Teacher Solidarity
ARTUZ is a union built by teachers, for teachers. We believe in collective strength and stand together in the fight for labour justice and equal access to education.
