Building Solidarity Among Workers
ARTUZ works to unite teachers with other workers to build solidarity and strengthen collective action. By organizing across sectors, the union amplifies the voice of educators and strengthens the struggle for fair labour conditions and social justice.
Influencing Policy and Public Debate
Through advocacy and dialogue with policymakers, ARTUZ works to ensure that the welfare of teachers and learners remains a national priority. The union actively engages in policy discussions to advance fair labour standards, education justice, and democratic governance.
Defending Rights and Challenging Injustice
ARTUZ challenges systemic human rights violations, repressive laws, and policies that undermine labour rights. The union advocates for labour justice, democracy, and the protection of fundamental freedoms that enable workers to organize and speak out.
Addressing Emerging Social Challenges
The union recognises that broader social issues affect education and communities. ARTUZ’s current strategic work includes addressing emerging challenges such as climate change and its impact on vulnerable and underserved communities.
Working with Allied Unions
ARTUZ collaborates with sister unions and labour movements to build consensus and strengthen collective advocacy. As an affiliate of the Federation of Zimbabwe Educators Unions (FOZEU), ARTUZ participates in joint efforts to advance the ongoing struggle for the right to collective bargaining.
