The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Board of Advisors, tasked with guiding the Union’s strategic direction and ensuring that our work remains rooted in democratic, rights-based, and progressive values.
Newly Appointed Board Members:
Douglas Coltart – Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)
Kudakwashe Munengiwa – Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU)
Tafadzwa Choto – International Socialist Organisation (ISO)
Peggy Tavagadza – ZLHR (Manicaland)
Fabian Nkomo – Zimbabwe Communist Party (Bulawayo)
Tamuka Chirimambowa – Institute of Public Affairs in Zimbabwe (IPAZ)
Kumbirai Mafunda – Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR)
We are confident that the new board members will bring valuable insight, credibility, and dedication to our ongoing fight for labour justice, equitable access to education, and the dignity of teachers across Zimbabwe.
We also wish to officially inform our members and the public that NEC has coopted Shumba Mediate as Finance Secretary. Mediate replaces Brenda Musavengana who has been demoted to an ordinary membership position following a thorough internal process which found her to have breached core union values and interests.
ARTUZ remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the principles of worker-led democracy.
